The Kyebi Government Hospital in the Eastern Region has received significant support from the Member of Parliament for Abuakwa South, Hon. Dr. Kingsley Agyemang, and Premier Health Insurance, aimed at improving healthcare delivery and enhancing patient care at the facility.
The Chief Executive Officer of Premier Health Insurance, Mr. Percy Asare Ansah, led a delegation to present 12 wheelchairs to the hospital as part of activities marking the company’s 15th anniversary.
According to Mr. Asare Ansah, Premier Health Insurance has procured a total of 150 wheelchairs for distribution to selected healthcare facilities across the country. He explained that Kyebi Government Hospital was among the beneficiaries because it serves as a healthcare provider for the company’s clients.
He said the donation was part of the company’s commitment to giving back to healthcare facilities that play an important role in providing services to its clients.
The presentation by Premier Health Insurance followed a separate intervention by the Abuakwa South MP, Hon. Dr. Kingsley Agyemang, who donated a range of medical equipment to the Kyebi Government Hospital and settled all outstanding inpatient bills at the facility.
The equipment donated by Dr. Agyemang included three suction machines, three electronic scales with height measurement, two pulse oximeters, 10 blood pressure machines, 10 thermometers, three electronic patient monitors, 20 wheelchairs, several boxes of examination gloves, and one Cardiotocography (CTG) machine.
The equipment is expected to strengthen the hospital’s capacity to provide quality healthcare, particularly in emergency services, maternal healthcare, patient monitoring and other clinical services.
In addition to the medical equipment, Dr. Agyemang paid all outstanding inpatient bills at the hospital, providing immediate financial relief to patients and their families who were unable to settle their hospital obligations.
The MP said the intervention formed part of his continued commitment to supporting the Kyebi Government Hospital and improving healthcare delivery in Abuakwa South. His support for the facility, according to the report, dates back to his period in opposition, when he also responded to some of the needs of the hospital and its patients.
Speaking during the presentation, Dr. Agyemang encouraged healthcare professionals to continue working with dedication, compassion and professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
He also appealed to the government to provide the Kyebi Government Hospital with the requisite equipment and resources needed to operate effectively.
According to him, while individual donations can help address immediate challenges, sustainable improvements in healthcare delivery require continuous government investment in health facilities.
The Chief Superintendent of the Kyebi Government Hospital, Dr. Isaac Antwi, expressed appreciation to Dr. Agyemang and Premier Health Insurance for their respective interventions.
Dr. Antwi said the donated equipment and wheelchairs would be valuable to healthcare workers and patients, while describing the settlement of outstanding inpatient bills as a significant intervention that had brought relief to affected patients and their families.
The presentation was witnessed by the Abuakwa South Constituency Chairman, Mr. Otis Asante, and members of the NPP Constituency Executive Committee.
The combined interventions are expected to complement ongoing efforts to improve healthcare delivery at the Kyebi Government Hospital and enhance services for residents of Abuakwa South and surrounding communities.
