Fallen ECG Cable Kills 3-Year-Old Boy at Nhyiaso, Obuasi

A 3-year-old boy has died after coming into contact with a fallen Electricity Company of Ghana cable at Nhyiaso in the Obuasi Municipality.

The incident reportedly occurred on Tuesday when the live cable, which had fallen to the ground, electrocuted the child in the area.

Eyewitnesses and community members say the cable had been lying on the ground for some time before the tragedy.

They are calling on ECG to improve maintenance and respond faster to reports of fallen or exposed cables to prevent similar deaths.

The Electricity Company of Ghana has not issued an official statement on the incident as of press time. Nhyiaso residents are demanding urgent action to inspect and secure all power lines in the community, especially in areas where children play.
