The Assembly Member for the Kwae Estate-Pega Electoral Area, Hon. Evans Azumah, has donated 800 exercise books to needy but brilliant pupils of the GOPDC Basic School in the Kwaebibrem Municipality of the Eastern Region.
The gesture, aimed at supporting pupils as they return to school, was complemented by the distribution of branded reflective vests to Okada riders within the electoral area to promote road safety.
The donations were made during a back-to-school programme held at the GOPDC Basic School.
Hon. Evans Azumah said the exercise books are intended to support needy pupils who may face difficulties in acquiring basic learning materials.
He encouraged the beneficiaries to remain focused on their studies and work hard to achieve their educational aspirations despite financial challenges at home.
The Assembly Member also urged Okada riders within the area to prioritise their safety while operating on the roads.
He stressed that their lives are precious to their families and the country, and therefore appealed to them to observe road safety measures at all times.
He made the call while presenting branded reflective vests to the riders to improve their visibility, particularly when operating in low-light conditions.
The school prefect, on behalf of the beneficiaries, expressed appreciation to the Assembly Member for the gesture.
The students appealed to other stakeholders, as well as the Ghana Oil Palm Development Company, GOPDC, to continue supporting the school and its pupils.
They pledged to make good use of the learning materials and study diligently to achieve their educational goals.
