Students Graduate from Kibi Technical Institute Amid Calls for Infrastructure Support

Kibi Technical Institute held its 2nd graduation ceremony on June 6, 2026, passing out 470 students under the theme “Empowering Skill, Shaping Future.”

The event drew dignitaries, staff, parents, and students to celebrate the school’s growing impact on technical and vocational education.

Principal Mr. Isaac Nana Yaw Adom said the institute is struggling to match its expansion with facilities.

He listed the absence of a students’ dormitory, dining hall, standard kitchen, places of convenience, and staff accommodation as major challenges.

With 1,861 students sharing old infrastructure, he warned the situation undermines quality teaching and learning.

Adom argued that TVET gives graduates employable skills to start their own businesses, unlike traditional grammar schools, urging parents to consider TVET for their children and appealed to government, NGOs, civil society, and individuals to support the institute.

Board Chairman Rev. Dr. Charles Ofosu Ayarkwa, who is also Principal of Kibi Presbyterian College of Education, praised management and staff for gains in infrastructure and enrollment.

He commended government’s TVET agenda but stressed that rising enrollment must be matched with more teachers and facilities to protect education quality.

He urged Ghanaians to prioritize TVET to cut youth unemployment and drive development.

Faustina Asiedu, a Fashion Design graduate and person with disability, said TVET transformed her life despite her challenges. She encouraged other PWDs to enroll in technical programs to gain self-reliance and appealed for support to start her own fashion business.

Kibi Technical Institute currently offers seven programs: Electrical Engineering, Building and Construction, Plumbing, Automobile Engineering, Wood Work Technology, Fashion Design, and Computer Hardware.

The administration announced that Cosmetology and Welding and Fabrication will be added next academic year to expand opportunities.

The ceremony highlights the institute’s role in preparing youth for the job market, even as stakeholders call for urgent investment to sustain its growth.
