The Ghana Broadcasting Corporation has secured exclusive terrestrial broadcast rights for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, ensuring all Ghanaians can watch the tournament free-to-air.
In a statement released June 10, 2026, GBC said the deal was finalized with government support and will allow nationwide coverage of the world’s biggest football event, including Black Stars matches.
National Broadcast Consortium formed
To maximize reach, GBC has set up a National Broadcast Consortium using a shared technical, marketing, and broadcasting framework at the request of Government. The consortium brings together eight TV groups licensed by FIFA through New World TV and GBC.

The following stations are licensed to air World Cup matches:

GBC said radio stations must obtain a sub-license to broadcast matches. Unauthorized radio coverage is prohibited.
Commercial opportunities
With the tournament projected to be the most-watched sporting event globally, the Ghana TV Consortium is offering sponsorship, advertising, and digital packages across TV, radio, and social media.
GBC, FIFA, and New World TV warned against unauthorized broadcast, streaming, public exhibition, or commercial distribution of World Cup content in Ghana.
The consortium will monitor all platforms, including digital and social media, and said violators will face immediate legal action and regulatory sanctions.
GBC thanked the Government of Ghana and stakeholders for support in bringing the tournament to all households.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, running from June 11 to July 19, 2026.
