Students of the University of Ghana Accra Campus, who are members of the Tertiary Education Institutions Network (TEIN), a student union wing of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) have undergone relevant entrepreneurship training with the aim of being empowered towards their future financial and economic stability here in Accra.
The training which was dubbed Herpreneur to empower young women in the school was organized by the leadership of the TEIN Accra Campus and attended by a number of dignitaries on leadership positions in the NDC.
Addressing journalists during the event, Hon. Evelyn Dodzi Dzeketey, the Greater Accra Regional Women’s Organizer in charge of operations expressed satisfaction on the idea by the students to learn such skills to enable them stay independent financially while in school and even after in order to live meaningful life’s.
She further admonished other youthful citizens in schools to emulate the gesture and disagreeing with the notion that only poor intellectual students drop out of school to learn skills for life.
On her part, Miss Sarah Quarshie, the TEIN Women’s Commissioner in the school also described the move as an avenue towards empowering young female graduates to be financially responsible to carry out their future ambitions without depending on other persons.
She further indicated that, the vision of the training imanates from the president’s vision of equipping young Ghanaians with skills training through the NYA and therefore need for such move.
Miss Sarah Quarshie finally encouraged young students to strive towards being self sufficient through opportunities such as the training and not depend on others after school.
Finally, some beneficiaries of the training, some of whom were male also shared their experiences and interests in the training.
