The Okyenhene, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin, has honoured 16 chiefs during the Second State Council Meeting held at Ofori Paninfie in Kyebi, in the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Area, on Friday, July 31, 2026.
The chiefs took the Oath of Allegiance before the Okyenhene, pledging their loyalty to the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Council and reaffirming their commitment to fostering peace, unity and sustainable development in their respective traditional areas.
Addressing the gathering, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin announced that he had appointed the Chief of Pramkese to oversee the affairs of Akyem Etwereso until a substantive chief is duly enstooled. He explained that the temporary arrangement is aimed at ensuring effective traditional leadership and the smooth administration of the area.
The Okyenhene also expressed grave concern over the devastating effects of illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey, on the environment and water bodies within the traditional area. He urged traditional leaders, government institutions and all stakeholders to work together to eradicate the menace and protect the country’s natural resources for future generations.
Some of the honoured chiefs, in separate interviews with this site expressed gratitude to the Okyenhene for the honour bestowed upon them. They pledged their unwavering loyalty to the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Council and promised to work tirelessly with their people to promote peace, unity and development in their respective communities.
