Read Full statement: Interior Ministry Suspends Kantanka Security Services Licence Over Uniform and Firearms Violations

Ministry of the Interior has suspended the operating licence of *Kantanka Security Services Limited* with immediate effect over allegations of regulatory breaches.

In a statement, the Ministry said the suspension follows reports that personnel of the company used unapproved uniforms and possessed and used firearms and ammunition without authorization from the appropriate authorities.

According to the Ministry, all private security companies in Ghana are required to use uniforms approved by the Interior Ministry and the Ghana Police Service. They must also obtain permits before acquiring or using firearms and ammunition.

The Ministry noted that the alleged actions by Kantanka Security Services contravene the Private Security Organisations Act, 2020, Act 1041, which regulates the operations of private security firms in the country.

The suspension means Kantanka Security Services cannot deploy personnel, provide guard services, or carry out any security operations until further notice. The Ministry said investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of the violations.

The company will be required to respond to the allegations and show cause why its licence should not be revoked permanently.

The Interior Ministry has urged the public and clients of private security firms to report any suspicious conduct by security personnel to the Ghana Police Service.

Kantanka Security Services Limited is yet to issue an official response to the ministry.
