NADMO Warns Abuakwa South Residents to Heed Weather Alerts as Rains Intensify

NADMO Director of Inspection Richard Amoh Lartey told NewsGuide that the public should avoid walking or wading through fast-moving floodwaters.

The National Disaster Management Organisation is urging residents of Abuakwa South Municipality to take weather warnings from the Ghana Meteorological Authority seriously as the rainy season intensifies.

He warned that floodwaters can sweep people away and may conceal snakes or sharp objects that cause injury.

NADMO on standby after Accra incidents Lartey said NADMO remains on standby to support communities this rainy season, citing recent incidents in Accra.

On Tuesday, June 3, 2026, parts of the capital recorded severe flooding, building collapses, and fire outbreaks linked to heavy rains.

He reminded the public to call the emergency number 112 immediately when disaster strikes or when assistance is needed.

“Early attention to weather alerts and personal safety measures can save lives and reduce the impact of seasonal disasters,” Lartey said.

The Ghana Meteorological Authority has forecast continued rainfall across parts of the Eastern Region through the coming weeks.
