Telecommunications giant MTN Ghana has reaffirmed its commitment to invest $1.1 billion into network expansion over the next few years to boost connectivity and service reliability across the country.
Out of this broader multi-year capital commitment, the company has allocated $380 million this year alone toward infrastructure development and capacity building.
Speaking at the Regional Media and Editors Forum in Kumasi, Madam Angela Mensah-Poku, Chief Enterprise Business Officer at MTN Ghana, noted that the heavy capital expenditure is designed to strengthen network resilience, expand coverage, and meet the growing demand for digital services.
The engagement in Kumasi was held under the banner of MTN Ghana’s nationwide 30th-anniversary celebrations, themed “30 Years of Progress, Powered by You.”
The forum serves as a platform to bring together journalists, media practitioners, and key industry stakeholders to foster collaboration and review the telecom giant’s impact over the past three decades.
During her address, Madam Mensah-Poku expressed gratitude to the media in the Ashanti Region for their continued partnership and constructive criticism over the years.
She emphasized that candid feedback from journalists plays a vital role in pushing the network to address challenges, improve service delivery, and achieve its corporate goals.
The ongoing network expansion project focuses on modernizing existing infrastructure, scaling up 4G and 5G coverage, and extending fiber-optic cabling across key regions, positioning Ghana for accelerated digital transformation.
