Tema Oil Refinery To Resume Full Operation – Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has announced that the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) has resumed crude oil processing following the completion of its first major turnaround maintenance in four years.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony of Phase II of the Sentuo Oil Refinery on Thursday, June 25, the President said the development forms part of ongoing reforms in Ghana’s petroleum downstream sector aimed at improving efficiency and boosting local refining capacity.

According to him, the Petroleum Downstream Sector Reform Committee has completed its work and submitted recommendations that are currently being implemented to strengthen operations within the sector.

President Mahama further disclosed that plans are underway to enhance the operational efficiency and refining capacity of TOR, adding that the refinery is expected to receive a consignment of Ghana’s own crude oil once full capacity is achieved in July.

He explained that despite global geopolitical tensions and volatility in energy markets, Ghana has maintained stability in the supply of petroleum products through coordinated efforts by key sector institutions.

The President noted that the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition, working with the National Petroleum Authority and industry stakeholders, has ensured the continuous maintenance of strategic fuel stocks and uninterrupted nationwide supply.
