The Parliamentary Select Committee on Economy and Development has paid a working visit to the Ghana Gold Board, GoldBod, as part of its parliamentary oversight responsibilities.
The visit was aimed at assessing the institution’s operations, achievements, and strategic direction.

Members of the Committee engaged with GoldBod management on ongoing initiatives to strengthen Ghana’s gold sector and to enhance the Board’s contribution to national economic development.

Discussions focused on the Board’s role in regulating gold trading, improving local value addition, and increasing foreign exchange inflows through structured gold purchases.
Committee members commended GoldBod for its efforts so far and urged management to continue working to formalize the gold trade, curb smuggling, and ensure that benefits from the sector accrue to the Ghanaian economy.
The Ghana Gold Board was established to oversee the purchase, aggregation, and export of gold, and to support small-scale miners to operate within the formal sector.
